Our Commitment

Specimen is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your font management should be entirely your business, which is why we've built Specimen to operate with minimal data collection.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Specimen does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
• Your font library or font files
• Your usage patterns or behavior within the app
• Your device information beyond what's necessary for basic functionality
• Analytics or tracking data of any kind

The application operates entirely locally on your Mac. Your fonts stay on your computer, and we never see them.

App Store Purchases

If you purchase Specimen through the Mac App Store, Apple processes your payment and manages your purchase. We do not receive any personal information about you from Apple, including:

• Your name or email address
• Your payment information
• Your Apple ID

All purchase information is handled exclusively by Apple under their Privacy Policy.

Direct Purchases via Paddle

If you purchase Specimen directly from our website or run a trial version, payment processing is handled by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), our Merchant of Record. When you make a purchase:

• Paddle collects and processes your payment information and basic purchase details
• We receive only the information necessary to deliver your license (typically just an email address)
• Your payment details are never shared with us
• Paddle's Privacy Policy governs their data handling

Google Fonts & Fontshare Integration

Specimen includes the ability to browse and install fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare. When you use these features:

• Requests are made directly from your computer to Google's or Fontshare's servers
• These services may log your IP address and other standard server log information according to their respective privacy policies
• We do not receive any information about which fonts you browse or install
• No API keys or accounts are required

Automatic Updates

Specimen may check for software updates by contacting our servers. During this process:

• Your current version number is transmitted
• Your IP address may be logged in standard server logs
• No personally identifiable information is collected or stored

Crash Reports

If Specimen crashes, macOS may offer to send a crash report to Apple. These reports are handled entirely by Apple's system and are governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not collect crash reports directly.

Local Data Storage

Specimen stores data locally on your Mac to function properly, including:

• Your preferences and settings
• Font collections and organization
• Preview text presets
• Application state

This data never leaves your computer and is stored in standard macOS application support directories.

Contact & Support

If you contact us for support via email:

• We will use your email address only to respond to your inquiry
• We may retain support correspondence for quality assurance purposes
• We will never share your information with third parties or use it for marketing
• You may request deletion of your support correspondence at any time

Children's Privacy

Specimen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Specimen after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since we collect minimal to no personal data, there is typically no personal information to access, modify, or delete. However, if you have any privacy concerns or questions about data we may have (such as from support correspondence), you have the right to:

• Request information about any data we may hold
• Request deletion of any data we may hold
